Since 2011, 1.5 million Syrian families have sought asylum in Lebanon. Lebanon has welcomed them with open arms despite being in an economic crisis for several years and grappling with deteriorating living conditions. Now, the country's economy can no longer support everyone seeking asylum, and therefore over 170,000 Syrian families have sought help in other countries or returned to Syria.
The children and teenagers whose parents are unable to seek asylum in another country work for 25 SEK a day or beg on the streets to be able to buy some bread to take home.

S:t Afrem Monastery
In the city of Zahle in Lebanon, there's a monastery named S:t Afrem. The monastery has for many years helped 200 families with children aged 3 to 17 years to go to school and helping them cope with their daily lives.
A significant part of the monastery was converted into Saint John's School, allowing the children to secure a better future and avoid ending up on the streets or in crime. The monastery relies on private donations, and as the country's economic situation worsens, their ability to fund the children's school fees also diminishes. The school's responsible principal is Sister Saray, who is also our contact person.

S:t Afrem Monastery are providing:
- Ensure the children attend school and have everything they need to continue building a future. (Large facilities belonging to the monastery have been transformed into a school under the name Saint George School, for children aged 3 – 17 years)

- Purchase clothes and uniforms for the children
- Ensure there is food, medicine, and hygiene and cleaning materials

Orphaned Children in the New Life Home Monastery, Mission de Vie, Antelias in Lebanon
In the heart of Beirut lies a monastery named New Life Home, which has opened its doors for many years to poor and homeless children. Today, the monastery takes care of 16 orphaned children between two and twelve years, giving them the opportunity to attend school and secure a better future to avoid ending up on the streets or in crime.
The monastery depends on private donations, and as the country's economic situation worsens, their ability to contribute to paying the children's school fees also diminishes.

Children and families in need of both education and food in Lebanon
Before the peak of the crisis in Lebanon, Spread Life was founded in 2015 in Beirut to help only 3 families by providing them with their monthly chronic medications and showing them the love of Christ by visiting them in their homes and praying with them.
Throughout its 8 years of service, Spread Life has helped more than 650 families by 2024, offering medical assistance to more than 400 families, nutritional assistance through hot meals and subsidy boxes to more than 350 families, and educational assistance to more than 60 children.
The aid is not limited to the subject, but also includes follow-up with the families and students to ensure they are served with dignity and the service bears fruit by helping these students in particular to grow, find a job, and become self-sufficient.
